Shipping Succulents During COVID-19 Pandemic

We are happy to announce Harddy has started shipping succulents amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.  Our decision to close was difficult for our small business, and the decision to reopen was even tougher.

I am not sure anyone realized just how much COVID-19 would affect our lives.  It was certainly underestimated by many initially.  It took roughly one week to completely understand the impact this virus would have on the world, economy and healthcare system.

We closed Harddy operations shortly after Governor Gavin Newsom announced California's stay-at-home order.  Our thought process was - succulents aren't essential; but our staff is.

We personally didn't feel comfortable hopping into a car, going to a gas station and dropping off boxes at the post office; Why would we expect our staff to?

The decision to begin shipping again only happened after thorough talks initiated by our grower.

Our grower has a small business to run, staff that rely on her, rent to pay and plants to ship.

We needed to understand how shipping and packing succulents will be safely handled moving forward.  We were comforted by the answers we received.

At the end of the day, we believe that the spread of sustainable, affordable, gorgeous plants can actually create large scale positive change.

Responsible Steps Harddy is Taking to Ensure the Safety of Staff and Customers

Our shipping is now being fulfilled by two designated people.  One is our succulent grower and the second is one of her staff members.

The nursery is closed off to any walk-in traffic.  The nursery sits on 3 acres of land.  Only the grower and one staff member will be on the premises at any given time.

All parts of the nursery that may have been compromised are now sanitized.  This includes regularly wiping door handles, bathroom, tables, chairs, computers, keyboards, pens, and tape dispensers.

Gloves and face masks are mandatory.

Shipping

While we get back into the swing of things, shipping will be limited to Mondays and Wednesdays.  If there are enough orders, they will also be open to shipping on Friday.

Inventory

Inventory has been updated and many plants that were out of stock are now back due to Spring season, active growth and warmer temperatures.  You can shop our succulents and cacti now at Harddy.com.  Happy Shopping!
